Just bought this childs tea set..There are no markings on any of the pieces..Tea set is in very condition and comes with original box (which is not is such good shape) On the front of box is a label which reads ..As purchased by HM the Queen..on the side there are 2 labels..one with Blue spot which states British made and another with what looks like 1 shilling and Mura England.. I can't find any info or other pics of this set anywhere..Would just like to find out why label is there..and if it is genuine or not..and if possible the age of the tea set..just curious .. I bought the set because I loved it..not because of the label..
Could you post a photo of the label your talking about ? and the box also . That would help a lot . Welcome to CW .
Thank you Manikin..I have added pics of the Tea set box and labels..
I'm guessing that Mura is the name of the shop with the price label. I think a shilling wouldn't have bought this even in the 1950's when Queen Elizabeth started her reign so it was probably her mother who the set refers to. I will research early 20th century British majolica makers and see what I can find. It's an unusual colour so that should make it easier.
Thank you so much Mary..I am looking forward to ..hopefully.. finding out more about this set..
