I picked this chest from a neighbor. They were moving and no longer wanted it. I researched some of the markings and found the following: Heloise-Leloir images. It also said A. Chaillor, Imp. Romaine 64 R Ste.
The patent number is May 54. If I can have any help on more information on this chest, I would be very thankful.
When you have a trunk, help will soon come on CW
Lovely 1880's or even later 1870's dome top chest. A good candidate for refinishing in my books -- although there are some who would advocate putting on new leather. Not sure about the name on the lithograph, or the other reference you mention. The 1854 was a patent date for the original plan on the hardware that would have been used for many years after. High quality trunk in its day.
Thanks so much everyone. If anyone has anymore information I'd love to hear it.
