Hi folks! This is a folding rocking chair I purchased at a local thrift store here in my hometown of Tawas, MI. The metal tag on its side reads:
    "GOLD MEDAL" Folding Furniture Co.
Racine, WIS. Made in the u.s.a.
    Patents Pending
I am having a problem with the research dating and naming the chair though.. If anyone has any information as to when it was made and the style name i would appreciate it very much!
So onto my story. In the store a gentleman was carrying the chair in its folded state and I payed little attention until he opened it up and placed it on the showroom floor. To my surprise he was a volunteer for the store and wasn't someone buying it. Swiftly I walked over to it, collapsed it and asked the selling price. The man shrugged and said five bucks! Elated, I opened my billfold and soon after it was riding next to me on the way home!
I found this to be probably one of my favorite pieces of furniture that I own. It is old. I do know that much but very funtional and comfortable infact I am sitting in it as i type. And for those reasons I am very proud to own it. A fisherman, guy I didn't know, offered me one hundred dollars one day as I sit rocking on the dock watching my poles. I laughed and kindly said thanks for the offer but its not for sale. He didn't have any information about the chair nor did I fish for any from him. But that made me even more proud of it and still every day I take it somewhere I get several comments of admiration about this darned ol' good chair.
Thanks for your time and any information you might have leading to the identification of my chair. Jeff

Hi Nannah. I did google that in a couple different combinations but made no real progress on my part. Saw lots of photos of other Gold Medal chairs, just not mine.

Hi Jeff, I know you posted this inquiry about your chair a long time ago. Did you find out anything useful about it? I have a pair of its cousins, not rockers, just the folding chairs with the same brass plate, same info, same style without the rocker. My were painted over in black but the original green shows through where the paint chips off. I've not been able to find anything about them other than your post. Just hoping you know more. Thanks, Cherie
