I think its possible this is Berlin Steel. Naturally, I could be wrong. I bought this in the East Village, NYC this winter in a shop which buys/sells/trades clothing and such, catering mainly to trendy NYU students. There are many, many "older" people (like my age!) who've lived in the East Village for years and I think its possible that some of the older things I sometimes find there come from the old-timers in need of quick cash. At first I thought it might be some sort of ethnic piece and a badly tarnished one at that. When I think of how much I know now versus a year or so ago about jewelry, I have to shake my head in dismay... the more I know serves to remind me how much I don't know!!! Thank goodness for Collectors Weekly, right? :)
You have a Middle Eastern necklace, this style is popular with belly dancers.
davyd286, lol!!! Well that solves that, doesn't it? I'm very glad I posted this and I'm going to be sure to post more when my head gets in the clouds!!! Thank you!
Iron Berlin was made of iron and over it is always used a special black lack.In any case, it seems to me no Iron Berlin. Also seen the style is not iron Berlin.Rather it reminds me of peasant jewelry I have seen earlier in Europe. To see for yourself that no iron Berlin here is a link with some examples :

Well there's Berlin IRON jewelry, never heard of Berlin Steel. This doesn't look at all like Berlin Iron though, and that stuff is INCREDIBLY rare and valuable. Its Indian or Middle-Eastern, for belly dancing. Probably nickel-silver
Agram.m, thank you for the link and for the detailed description. Its difficult (for me) to tell what things are sometimes having seen only photos and descriptions are often times lacking. You are a wonderful "teacher" and your link quite helpful! Thank you so much!
You're welcome, like it when I can help someone, as I like to get advice. It is a beautiful necklace!
