Today I would like to show you this necklace again. A year or two ago, I also posted this on CW but actually to date have not answered my questions about this. Hence, I ask your help again. I must admit I'v never seen such a necklace or anything like this!
You see a beautiful sterling silver necklace with pendant and tassels. There are two marks in the pendant and one on the closure of the chain.
(see photo number 4, all three toghether).
I think the tassels on the chain and the application round at the end are inlaid with Onyx either French jet. The pendant was made of pressed Horn.

Hi Agram. One of those marks looks Arabic. The second one down in photo 4.
      I'm looking around.

The background is too regular to be carved - maybe pressed, or molded? Any signs of seams on the back (if French Jet). Otherwise would have to be something softer to press this design - could be jet!

The central pendant looks molded or pressed, and you know, nowadays they mix stone powder with synthetic resin to achieve a beautiful appearance and a variety of shapes. It's often done with turquoise, coral, malachite, pretty much any opaque gemstone and amber, and who knows, maybe onyx, too. Your necklace as a whole looks very modern in style. However, there was some early plastic in Victorian times that could look like that central pendant. Try holding it under very hot running water for a couple of minutes and see if you can sense a phenolic smell.

Another option could be pressed horn, http://www.google.com/search?q=victorian+pressed+horn&client=safari&rls=en&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=vGdxUfNKkej2BK_0gagO&ved=0CDsQsAQ&biw=1266&bih=568

Davyd28 what a good suggestion. Also in this case you could be right. After studied the jewelry on the link page and the old pattern I think my necklace is indeed made of pressed horn. It's a fact that this jewelry is very nice set with fine details.
Thanks also for this suggestion and link, you helped a lot. I hope to be able to help you once. THANKS!

The lozenge shape of the hallmarks indicate that the piece is French in origin, at least the silver work is. This might boost the argument for French jet.

Shessowitte I'm grateful you gave me finally a clue for the origin of the marks. In the meantime I know that the black part is made of vulcanite. all together I know now rhe origin and that's good! Thanks for your useful knowledge!

shessowitte, I like to ask if you could take a look on my antique silver sewing kit.
I suppose it's French origin but I cannot decode the silver marks. Perhaps you have an idea. Please help me to find out. This is the link:
