Today's thrift store rounds turned up this beautifully large (14"x 9") shell pink satin" Dolbi Cashier" vase. The style is very "Art Deco" and embossed with 6 single stylized tulips around the outside. When I first saw it I though OK the Volunteer's of America.Thrift Store couldn't possibly have a " Lalique " vase or could they ?? I picked it up and looked at the bottom. The name was hard to read and was something I didn't recognize, but it was priced right so I bought it. When I got home I looked online and found that " Dolbi Cashier " sold high end decorative items for the home starting in the 1960's. Metal sculptures, glass and pottery in many styles. The " Art Deco" items were their early pieces and were marked with their name embossed on the bottom . In the late 60's though the 80's they used a foil label. Today they are known as Gallery House/ Dolbi Cashier. I was surprised to see their early 60's and even 80's pieces of metal sculpture and vases selling for hundreds of dollars. This vase is really nice and has only one small nick in the collar (which I didn't notice till I got home) no big deal. It also has a few scuffs which satin glass is prone to but doesn't detract from it at all. What a find ! -Mike-
