Got this huge cocktail ring for a buck because it is missing one green stone. Thinking easy fix for a jewelry store. Nope, our jewelry stores are minimum wage slaves and only are trained to sell reproductions and knock offs. Three major stores and no one carries loose stones or glass. Guess I have to go to the big city to find a "real" jewelry store. The bakelite ring box was worth a buck, but would like to restore the old ring.
Thanks Bellin68, but need to find a stone? Bet this ring would cut you up if the lady got mad at you. Must be why it's called a cocktail ring.
Very nice papa ! There are places to find replacement stones . Beautiful ring and nice buy . Love it
Thanks Manikin, exhausted the local shops in my little town; put it on my maybe fix list when I have a reason to go to the big city. Looked on eBay but do not need a whole bag of stone, just the one.
Very easy fix...we do it all the time at our store...any good Jewelry store should have some on hand....
That would be funny; buy a whole bag and none fit?
I save all of my vintage jewelry....just in case I can re use or repurpose it...and I agree...many of the jewelry stores that are near me never have a clue about any vintage pieces that I may have brought to them for fixing or help with identifying it...I was told by a large reputable jewelry store worker that she was not allowed to comment at all as this would be grounds for dismissal ...I love your ring and I wish you good luck in finding that one special piece that you need and thank you for sharing on cw.
