Hi I got this really old fishing creel recently at a sale. This is made from what I believe to be is whicker. This looks to be hand woven and has a very unique symbol on the underneath the top part of the creel. This doesn't have a makers name or model that I have found. I was hoping domineering might be able to shine some light on this for me.
Wicker (correct spelling) is woven items, made from willow shoots or twigs, cane or rattan even plastic and numerous other materials.
From the photo it seem that this creel might be woven from split woven willow shoots/twigs. If it is split willow, it is very unique, as the willow was very seldom split for weaving items. (baskets, laundery bins etc)
