I just found him in an Antique Japanese Hibachi drawer of mine.
The story goes that ...I had a client in Kingwood, Texas. She had a horse that needed to be broke and trained. I traded horse training and lessons in lieu of cash. My client "D"'s Mother just passed away and her parents were World travelers. So this was one of the trades we did. I was taking out the Squash Blossom Necklace. I had stored under glass in the centre of the hibachi. I cleaned out the drawers for the first time, since acquiring the hibachi 8 years ago! I found this little Camel in the top drawer under shipping tissue paper in the back of the drawer! Wow, I feel so blessed and he is staying on my desk to keep me company!
nldionne, thank you for your loving!!!!
If that is ivory, I'm impressed & I'm not easily impressed.
blunderbuss2, I took it to my gemologist and he confirmed that it was indeed Ivory. He said it was worth about $2200 or better....its in mint condition. I could not believe my eyes when I found him! The Saddle bags are made separately and added on with ivory pegs from the camel. I do not know the age...but the family was wealthy....very wealthy. What are your thoughts? I do not know Ivory very well. Lee
I'm very impressed! Beautiful item & more so now.
