Early 20th Century Vaudeville and Burlesque Stars on Cabinet Cards

These are a couple of my favorite vaudeville/burlesque ladies. The first is Cecile Manners, taken by Ramsey in LA. The second is not identified except she is clearly dressed to do vaudeville or burlesque of that same time and this was taken by Pach Bros in NY. Two lovely ladies who made a living in the early 19th century doing what was considered then to be scandalous but what would be considered today to be talented and musical. Notice that neither looks particularly happy. Amazing how paradigms and standards can shift over time.
