I inherited a small beer mug and am interested in its origin. Its approx 3" tall and 2.5" diameter at top. It has ornate sterling silver overlay (it is raised). Showing hops buds and leaves. Has a monk reading a pamphlet that has a title of "bookery laurne" although the second word is hard to decipher. The pamphlet shows women in what appears to be Gibson style hairdos. Im not concerned with an appraisal but am interested in any other info about this family heirloom.
God, what a piece... Sorry I can't tell you anything, but that really is unique. Bet its really valuable
Wow i also have a mug with this design, very aged; however no silver overlay any as tall as a typical beer mug??? Any ideas of its' story and/ or its worth?
I have never been able to find out anything about this small mug or cup. Ginny13601 does your mug have anything on the bottom?
idcloisonne; thanks for your input, the mug came from my stepfathers family that are all dead now. They came from Russia about 1900. On the inlay there seems to be a leaf that had an initials on it that have been rubbed out.
Mine does have print on the bottom - ive just moved and am trying to locate its box lol but i will post as soon as i find it!
