Burnished Mexican Art Plates (Hand Painted)

Another thrift store fine. Their a set of 6 Mexican Art Plates, I believe from the Tonala region of Mexico. Each has a unique pattern and theme. (1 Deer, 2 Cranes, 2 doves and 1 Flower) They measure 10" and are in excellent condition

Burnishing is a form of pottery treatment in which the surface of the pot is polished, using a hard smooth surface such as a wooden or bone spatula, smooth stones, plastic, or even glass bulbs, while it still is in a leathery 'green' state, i.e., before firing.
