SHUT UP ! Very, very nice collection and display. This place just keeps getting gooder and gooder!.
Ok, thats a OCD! LOL Dave
rosebud, just in case you don't have a teenager who keeps you in the know on current phrases, let me explain...In this instance, SHUT UP means that something is so good that I want you to stop so I can take it all in. In this case , that is your collection. So come back and break it down for us. How many do you have? How many holders do you have and who are some of the makers?
etc,etc,etc
i have it all stored away at the moment, but if i recall correctly there are over two thousand hat pins and around seventy-five to one hundred holders,as far as names. they seem to slip me at moment, but i do remember some were recognizable.
Wow! Awesome collection!
Awesome, great, never knew a person could collect this much !
Speechless!! uh.....mmmm......WOW!!!
I hope you know what a valuable collection you have there. Although we are in one of the deepest recessions right now, the prices of true antique hatpins has continued to hold steady, and even continued to rise on some.
Love your display cabinet full of hatpins and Hatpin holders! I have a LOT of hatpins, having collected now for over twenty years. My favorite hatpins are the tremblers and the one's with large blue stones with rhinestone accents. And who doesn't love the compact and nanny hatpins too! Do you have any of the "hooker" or brooch convertible hatpins? I do!
I thought I had a lot of hat pins! just over 500... But, now I feel like a rookie... I too have been collecting for over 20 years.. I have over 100 rhinestone hatpins, 10-12 inches long that are my faves!
I have to disagree with Enzee on one point...prices have really gone down except for the more rare and desirable hatpins and holders. Great time to collect if you can afford to, not a good time to sell. Just bought a butterfly hatpin that would have cost $400+ twonor three years ago for under $150.00. And the more common hatpins like escutcheons and such are cheap as chips. And who knew collectors would ever be able to won a Rose Tapestry hatpin holder for $150 when they were running at $275+ a few years ago. And Royal Bayreuth poppy at $275 instead of $375-$500! I am getting to buy things for my collection now that were off limits price-wise two-three years ago.
I have over 1000 hatpins and have collected for over 20 years. I never really bought into the nicer authentic holders until now.
What a wonderful collection. I am thrilled to see current hat pin collectors. I recently inherited my Mom's collection of hatpins. Maybe a 100 or so. I just got Lillian Baker's Encyclopedia of Hatpins, while informative, not exactly what I was looking for. I would love to talk to someone about how to catalog, value, etc.
Wow, what a fabulous collection you have rosebud.
Hat pins power!!!
I'm frustrated...Would love to see close up pics!
Fantastic group collection I forgot to say :-)
