Queen Victoria deserves a big "thank you" from us modern day opal lovers. She did a lot to make them popular again and had a nice collection of fine opals herself. She gave them as gifts to her daughters and friends. Pictured here are some examples of small Victorian gold and opal rings. Some display just a solitary opal and others combine opals with peridot, tiny rubies or garnets. My favorties are the clear, sometimes called water opal, rings on the right. They are full of fire with a clear base.
I like the Mexican fire opals as well with the deep orange coloring and
green fire. It is great opals are your birthstone.
What a great collection....good for you..
