I have a vintage print that is a reproduction of a painting of Washington this is suppose to be a rare image of him and his horse also it is signed by the mayor with compliments of the city of Charleston South Carolina , I can't find a thing on this print or document I'm not sure what it is exactly, Why would the City of Charleston have the Copyrights ? Puzzling! I would welcome any information or any links to learn more about this piece.

I believe I've solved part of the puzzle, I now know why this image is so hard to find , Trumbull got a bit of revenge on the city of Charleston for turning down his first painting of Washington ,which he revered as his finest work,Trumbull had to paint another portrait of Washington ,but the one that he showed them for payment and approval was not what they got , Trumbull told the citie's counsel that he had to do a few touches before delivering the painting , so they paid right then and waited for the final painting to arrive ,what they received was a portrait of Washington with his horse's hind quarters and his tail up as if to be relieving himself over the city of Charleston's skyline! HA! I wouldn't broadcast that painting either , I guess Trumbull got the last laugh! But I still don't know where my print came from.
