The Crawford Range Timer was one of the first - if not the first - oven timer/clock. Manufactured by the Lux Clock Mfg. Co. of Waterbury Conn. for Walker & Pratt, maker of Crawford ranges, these heavy cast pot metal clocks are powered by wind-up movements, but the timer element was connected to the oven via electrical cord. After setting the oven to the desired temperature, the oven start and stop times could be set using the small inset dials - a revolutionary advance in kitchen technology, to say the least! The timers were offered in a number of colors.
