(222 items)
This is a genuine patent model gate with the original patent office tags attached. The Patent Office size limits were 12" x 12" x 12". It is 8.5" x 1.25 inches x 4.5 inches. The original finish is intact. The patent office attached one tag when the patent application was received and another when the item was issued a patent number. The red ribbon shown in the frame was used to attach the tags. The red ribbon (tape) has an interesting story. It seems that the Government used the tape to bind stacks of documents. The origin of "Government Red Tape".
It is designed to be lifted to variable heights to clear obstructions such as snow, etc. using a lever.
Preserved in a shadowbox frame November 2013.
