Most beautiful clock ever! Jewels inside. It is blue baked enamel. The case is leather & satin lined. It is 1800's Swiss Clock. My Great Grandma escaped from comm. Romania at age 13. It was ''her'' Mother's and she brought it with her when she came to USA. That is all we really know about it. :)

Comments? Value? Thanks so much, Laura J.

This form is called a "Carriage" clock for just the reason you would think. They were designed for travel. Your's is especially nice because you have the original travel case. Also, the clock itself appears to be sterling silver -argent .935- and it looks like there's a hallmark as well that with a little research would give you a date or the maker maybe... Very nice jeweled movement!! You should count yourself lucky to have it.

Put it this way, you have a valuable clock anyways.
Contach Gallery 63, they may give you a current value. Email you pics to info@gallery63.net.

The Christies link is close to your clock, just a different color enamel and has a agate. But I would say the Auction price would be just under that mark in 2008? Dave

Does this clock chime at all? If not, it's not a "repeater." It's also not a "strut" clock. I think Dizzydave has found your maker though... Beautiful clock! Thanks for sharing it.

Thats why I say ask Gallery 63, there are so many variations it hard to research all of them. Dave

He said a couple hundred auction 50-100? I disagree! His name is Paul right? He wrote me but I am guessing he did not look at the clock.

http://cgi.ebay.com/RARE-miniature-QUARTER-repeater-carriage-clock-boxed-/190494221069?pt=UK_Clocks&hash=item2c5a57230d Here's one on ebay by the same maker. It's a "repeater" meaning it chimes the hours and the chiming can be repeated by pressing a button on the top of the clock...In case you missed it the first time I guess. This is what's referred to as a "complication" and collectors will pay a premium for it. Your's does have that beautiful enamel work on the case though... I'd watch this one on ebay to maybe get a sense of value...

I agree its worth more. The enameling is outstanding. I would hold on to it for a bit. In fact I wouldn't sell it. LOL Dave

I believe it could bring 1,000 or more.

I agree Laura, I would put 1200.00 on it and discount down to `1000.00 if it were mine. Dave

Your clock is beautiful ! What is also awesome about it is the history. Definitely would never let it go !! You should definitely insure this item !! I would also keep photos and any documentation in a separate location. We had a break in once, and dealing with the insurance company was worse of all. In their eyes, you would just have an "old clock" that they would try to low ball you on. Thanks for sharing this item ! Thrifty Gypsy
