Found an old ashtray (or looks old). Does anyone recognize this symbol or know where to look for it? Thanks as always!

What kind of metal do you think it is? Pewter? Silver? Do a magnet test too.

This is inside ashtray, think it is a symbol for organization or something. Ashtray is probably silver plate or domething cheap is pretty heavy. Tried magnet, does not stick to it. No mark on bottom. I don't do metal stuff just was interested in the meaning. What does it mean if magnet doesn't stick?

I would look hard at the Diamond Tool & Die company and see if this mark shows up somewhere in it's history. Maybe ask some antique tool collector sites.
