You have a bottle of tawny port that I suppose originally cost less than $10.00, ready to be drunk when purchased. Opening it is the only way to tell if it's gone bad. Since it seems you don't know when it was purchased and how it was stored, there is no way to know if it has deteriorated. Bottle is worth $0, in my opinion.
The expensive ports are "vintage" ports declared in certain years, traditionally three times per decade before 1990, and need to be laid down for many years of aging.
