This dish is a Roe dish (Fish Eggs) or some use it for butter. It is in very good condition the only thing missing is the spoon. The glass lining is made of glass & has Wattey & 3 other letters on it, at this stage it is packed as when we moved here as it is only temporary at this stage we have not completely unpacked. There are no chips or cracks & opens with ease. This just happens to be the first one I have seen complete. Has anyone any idea of age. If so thank you in advance.

I Have one almost exactly the same. Complete with spoon, it belonged to my late wife. This one has no markings on the shell except for 13 on the glass part. The spoon has made in england "mayell" on it. The spoon is aprox 5ins long and 3/4ins wide the bowl part is about 2&1/4 in long elongated a bit like a marrow spoon. this one is silver plated.
I Googled mayell silver plate shell and got a few hits >:-)

      PS says a Butter dish
    6. Zowie Zowie, 12 years ago
Hi oledebil I always thought it was a butter dish until I seen in a collectables mag that said it was a Roe dish. Maybe it can be used for both but thank you for letting me know your thoughts.

Back again oledebil you are really lucky to have it complete. I have also had another comment that it maybe a salt dish but I am inclined to think it is either a Roe or butter dish. I always appreciate any comments that could steer me in the Wright direction. Thanks again.

Hey Zowie, you mentioned that there are three markings other than the name of the company can you tell me what they are? what they look like?
    11. Zowie Zowie, 11 years ago
That I will have to get onto for you as I'm just not sure were it is packed at the moment & sorry for taking so long I have been off line for a few days
    12. uchihadesendent, 11 years ago
No problem, take your time it's not like I'm going anywhere lol!

Btw where do you get all this cool stuff?
    13. Zowie Zowie, 11 years ago
uchihadesendent been off line again have had heaps on lately in all sorts of places mainly from thrift shops, sometimes garage sales but not to often. If it catches my eye & I like it I just go for it as long as it's at the Wright price so if I decide to sell it's a good chance I could make something on it. I haven't sold anything yet I have to much to learn.
