This stunning blown perfume bottle arrived today, I bought with a ‘BIN’ very cheaply and normally I would say!... unfortunately it has a chip to the rim and missing it’s stopper but!... I’m not going to with this one!
I bought it knowing about the chip and the reason why I got it so cheaply but! it is the most beautiful bottle so! I don’t think at all….”unfortunately!”
There is so much going on! on this entirely hand decorated bottle, it has been ruby cut to clear with a deeply cut panelled body which is covered with a fine fine frit?... the tightly packed spirals that cover the clear body, are a work of art!… I love the fact you can see they are not perfectly all the same, clearly! hand done…
The ruby design has been framed with a cream enamel which has been framed in gold.
A deeply rope-like cut base which is so thick makes the rest of the bottle seem like it is sitting separately on it on.
Stands approx... 16cm or 6.1/2 inches tall.
Bohemian mid to late 19th century, and I would say mid rather than late.
If anybody could help me identify who made it that would be wonderful, thank you!..my thoughts were Harrach or? possibly Josephinehutte.
Hello Phil..thank you!...:-)
Yes! me too, very much!.. they seem to bring a real human element to it somehow, I think because they aren't perfect!..:-)
Many thanks vetraio...:-)

You know what we call perfume bottles which have lost their stoppers? Bud vases :P
(And you don't have to give me a "many thanks," I'm sure you've got better things to do)
Thank you Stillwater.
Aw I didn't mean to make you mad, I just saw a dozen comments you made thanking people and I didn't want to bother you again to do it.
So pretty. Lovely detailing. In way, Still is right, wouldn't a beautiful flower look just divine with this?
Stillwater..No! idea how you can tell if I am ‘mad’ or not but! I never have anything better to do when it comes to being friendly and polite to my fellow CW’s.
AmberRose I don’t think I could find a flower that would do this beautiful perfume bottle justice and I have a few to choose from, it is so much more beautiful than the photos show, many thanks for the love and stopping to comment….:-)
Many thanks mikelv85.....:-)
I don't know, I guess I took it wrong
I just didn't want to bother you
Many thanks mikelv85....:-)
Hello, dear inky! May this find you well and filled with joy!
Put the thinking cap on my small brain and came up with some ideas. Agreed - very difficult to find a blossom or arrangement grand enough to stand up to the 'vase', but you of all persons could do it. If you used white trumpet flowers as the main attraction, they'd have to have height and dramatic form. How about the Giant Himalayan Lily stalk?

Or, if not, giant white poppies that had been embellished with a judicious bit of the finest florist-grade, very fine golden glitter or opalescent/pearlescent spray? If poppies used, perhaps would benefit from addition of a ruff of pleated fine golden net:

Or enhanced by blanching a manzanita or other similar branch and using it as an anchor/frame for addition of further flowers - similarly enhanced, or even a golden bird or golden fruits or leaves on branch.

Curved spirea branches could be arranged to form a frame for other flowers.

Bells of Ireland with white calla lilies would be beautiful, too.

Giant white moonflowers and white hydrangeas, as well as peonies, and orange blossoms for fragrance would be lovely, too. Wonder if magnolias grow in NZ....
Finally, you could make the blossoms themselves glow in the dark if you chose. Here is an excellent article that provides instructions on methods.

Here is a video clip that shows one method and the results.

One day when you need a challenge, you might have a good time assembling a grand floral arrangement for this vase? If you do, I hope you'll post a photo, as you have an artist's keen eye and flair.
Best! miKKo : D
Lol! mikko you make me smile so! :-))))))...I do like the thought of fragrant flowers as I do love anything smelly..:-)... and yes! moonflowers sound good ..I have lots of different magnolias growing around the place, the turning circle in front of the garage has a white magnolias has a six foot hedge around it to hide and to soften the concrete and it does glow at night when in flower, which won’t be long now....:-)
Howdy, inky! Well now, I predict that we shall have a grand arrangement soon! Your garden is a Paradise. By the way, one last suggestion, this would look great with a tiny Christmas tree in it. A tree with tiny needles, large spaces between the branches - with branches accented with a bit of snow, a tall 'stem' or 'trunk', and with suitable Christmas ornaments. Take care, kind soul. I'll be answering your email after I brew a cup of coffee. : D
Holy cow what a piece inky, its hard to nail down what the best part of it is! its all wonderful!
Hello Shawnl86!...it is rather sumptuous isn’t it...I love it!...:-)
Many thanks lisa and bratjdd....:-)
I have to say again, this piece really catches my eye! :)
Many thanks Shawnl86 ~ aldo78 and Monstonelover21
I have to ask, how much was the BIN?
Hello Shawnl86...If I remember correctly it was $18....and don't forget I am talking NZ dollars.. so a very good price.. well I think so anyway!..thanks so much for your interest!...:-)
