This is a 1890's Parlor Lamp w Hand Painted Glass Globe. It was manufactured by P&A or Plume and Atwood and is marked P&A on the underside of base section. Hand painted flower pattern shows dark red flowers and green leaves on a cream colored background. Base and spill ring parts are brass plated cast iron with an embossed scroll leaf and flower pattern.
It has been electrified and a shade harp added as the matching upper globe was likely damaged and discarded long ago. Was originally designed to use oil or kerosene.
This lovely example is a little larger than most I've seen. Lamp measures about 19 inches tall to the top of the light socket with a bottom globe diameter of 12 inches.
