I have a vintage triumph TR5 motorcycle engine and transmission. I was told it is a 1947 but after some reaserch it seems to be a 1956. It has I think, a Delta head however delta heads didn't appear until 1958. Could be a conversion. did not remove the head and would rather not unless there is no other way to tell. Engine has a Lucas racing magnito. It also has a "X" at the end of the engine number. I was told the X stands for factory experimental. If there is anybody out there who could steer me straight on this engine I would be very greatful.

Yes the twin carb splayed head was an option for the Tigers and TR5's later on that same casting was used for the early Bonnevilles. It is a 56 motor. Still have it?
