I bought the cool futuristic looking cast iron race car at an estate sale, old white rubber tires have cracking near the center, the other two tires were missing but that didnt stop me from getting this for twelve bucks. I have searched every site for one that looks like this and came up empty. Some of the makers were Hubley, Arcade, Kenton, Kilgore back in the 30's this toy has no makers mark?
Any help on this cool car would be great!
I have sent pictures of this to cast iron toy car sellers on Ebay and they say "oh yea I had this car or I just sold one like it" but they never produce a picture of it or who the maker was? If and when I find one like it I will post a picture or see if anyone here can help.
Have you looked for "Barclay" toys,I have a similar one,and they were known as "slush cast" aluminum toys.
Yea, I found one on ebay and it had "metal tires" all paint gone, the other one had my same white rubber tires, blue worn paint and both were just as you say "slush cast" and they listed all the other names it could be but never what it actually is?
I found the white tires she needs so I will get those put back on and get her back out on the Salt Flats!
Thanks Gargoyle
IMO it is a Barclay, but maybe AZtom could help.He is our toy guy here on the CW.
Hi, it is for sure the racer by M&L Toy Co.Inc. founded in 1947 in Union City, New Jersey. M&L was Morris and Louis. Also mind O'Brien's Collecting Toy cars & Trucks 4th edition, page 375–376.
