Do you know how to use one? I decided to learn when I lived on the tiny island of St. Eustatius,NA. I would often get a 4 n. mile difference in reading during noon sightings. Our beach seemed to come & go so I soon convinced the locals that it was actually the island that was coming & going instead of the beach. Later learned the importance of keeping the instrument perfectly perpendicular.
This is a sextant isn't it?
You called it B'buss.

all hands on deck, where are we going?
After my revelation, I doubt anybody would want me to navigate. Back then, the locals in "Statia" swore there was a hole in the ocean NW of St. Kitts so they easily believed me when I claimed the island moved. Both are true but that was 35 yrs ago.
youre right blunderbuss time flies when having fun eh lets go for satnav instead we will keep this one for show. those were pretty sophisticated tools but not very easy to handle indeed! thanx for sharing dsc77
