Another flea market bargain, this pair of satin glass bud vases from Carl Goldberg, Haida, stands about 4.5" tall. Although blown into the same mold, the relative thickness of one of the vases causes it to weigh almost an ounce more than the other one. It's unusual to find a pair, so I couldn't pass them up, especially for nothing more than the price of a good lunch.
The silver deposit on these Goldberg pieces is rarely found to be free of substantial wear. Maybe it adds to their charm and old world feel, but the acid cutback florals are always so essentially art nouveau that you can't help but pay attention to them.
Lovely! And so nice to have a pair....It also confirms (thank you) ..I think! what my one is! it has the same base marks as your!...:-)
Strange coincidence, I bought a pair of these too only yesterday. Same colour different shape with acorns - I think the thinner silver was partly deliberate as it allowed the light through.
