(6 items)
I purchased this item at a bazaar in 1973 in Faizabad, Afghanistan. At that time it was already looking very, very old and the smooth wear around the stem bears this out. Made of solid copper with what appears to be tin seaming. The jug is intricately, yet primitively engraved.
Piece measures 12 inches tall and 37 inches around.
I am guessing that it may have originated in either the Pansheer Valley, or with the Nomadic "Kootchie" tribe.
Aft Aubs are used at least six times daily for washing hands prior to and after meals. A Logang (water pan) is used to catch the poured water. I'll post a photo of that item as soon as I can.
Hello Tikigi - I have two pitchers that are very similar to the one you've shown here. They were purchased in Bamyan in 2013. Did you ever find out more about your piece? Feel free to share information. I'll post photos of mine soon.
