This is my only other ashtray so far. I've seen this one in bright orange as well. There may even be other colors. From what I've read Mr. Hoenig did primarily ashtrays. This has been described as a cigar rest. It's 11" x 7". The holders do seem a little big for a cigarette. So cigars it is . -Mike-
Nice one, I don't have one of these;)
How do you find all this California Pottery?
Let see..The Hoenig one cost $2.99 and came from the new Salvation Army Family Thrift store over in Avon. The DeForest one I got today for $1.50 from the Avon Goodwill store. The Metlox stuff same thing, the Goodwill stores out towards Cleveland mostly. Nothing was more than a couple dollars.
I very rarely see any California down here unless there's California stuff marked USA. I have a bunch of that to ID. If those potteries only knew what they would do to us.
That USA stuff is a pain. That nautilus shell vase I got is still unidentified. It's probably Cally pottery maybe Catalina, Gladding McBean or even Metlox.
