This was bought at a garage sale. It is quite heavy and seems to be made out of cast Aluminum or brushed Aluminum. The only marking on this is a number "22" on the top or lid. The unit comes apart and within is a hollow area, attached to the base within this hollow area is a heating element . This when plugged in gets very hot, when you place the exact fitting lid back on, then the top part of this unit becomes very hot. The unit has 2 screws which fit the top half and the bottom half exactly together again. The unit has an old type of cloth cord in great condition. The unit is oval in shape as well. The bottom of this unit only has 3 flat head screws,no writing anywhere. I have no idea what this was used for, but I love mysteries and this is why I bought this. Please feel free to send in your ideas, I would like to solve the mystery once and for all...Thanks for looking :)

Hello Tallcakes, thanks for your guess. I think you are right. I searched on Google and came up with others that are similar. This seems to date to the 1930s...Thanks for your help...Regman :)

My first guess was a Fez warmer, but maybe TallCakes had it right?
