    Royal Doulton 1982 tulip vase. Designed as part of the Impressions series by Gerald Gulotta. Measures about 6 3/4 " tall.

    GERALD GULOTTA

    Based in New York City, Gulotta specializes in the design of functional objects of glass, porcelain, ceramic, silver, and stainless steel for a wide range of international clients. Renowned for their simplicity and elegance, his designs are in institutional collections worldwide, including those of The Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, The Brooklyn Museum of Art, London's Victoria and Albert Museum, and many others. For many years he taught industrial design at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn.
    He has been independent international design consultant since 1955, specializing in porcelain, ceramics, glass, stainless steel and silver. Manufacturers in the U.S., South America, Europe and the Far East.

    Design education consultant to the Portuguese Ministry of Economics.
    Organized and directed “Industrial Design Workshop ’74” in Portugal in 1974, an experimental nine-week intensive program to provide introductory training to advanced students of Art and Architecture. The purpose of the program was to form the nucleus of an industrial design profession in Portugal by providing scholarships for study abroad with the ultimate aim of staffing a design center to serve Portuguese industry.

    Design education consultant to the University of Guadalajara, Mexico.
    Designed the foundation year curriculum in industrial design for a new School of Design as an adjunct to the School of Architecture. In two intensive eight-week workshops, in 1976 and 1977, trained the faculty to teach the first and second semesters of the new curriculum.

    In 1982, under the auspices of the China National Arts and Crafts Corporation, guest lecturer in the Departments of Industrial Design at the Central School of Arts and Crafts in Bejing, the University of Hunan in Changsha and the College of Arts and Crafts in Jingdezhen.

    In 1987, invited by the China National Arts and Crafts Corporation to design a collection of miniature stoneware teapots for the Violet Sand Factory in Yixing, China. Seven designs were selected and each was made by hand for a limited edition of fifty of each design. The first made of each teapot design are in the permanent collection of the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum.

      Love Gulotta's designs. I have collected the Chromatics range for Arzberg! In the US it is Block China! I have some of his cutlery too. The Brroklyn Museum has a bit of his work:
