I beleive this is called a salt-glaze, covered, lipped pickle crock that sat on top of open barrel of pickles which was located outside on the sidewalk in front of a grocery store when they would show their wares many years ago. It is 7 3/8" tall 12 1/2" outside diameter with a rim 2 1/8" from the base which is 10". It has a 1/4" clear glass hexagon lid that is 13 1/2" . On the side in blue lettering is REID MURDOCH & CO. CHICAGO-BOSTON NEW YORK-PITTSBURGH. It was in the basement of an old grocery store along with a few other old relics. I bought the building and turned into a different kind of business some 30 years ago. I'm not sure of the correct name for this item. Can anyone help?
