Hello all, picked this up at an estate sale today was wondering if anyone could give me some information on it. I think it's missing one of the glass cylinders but that's it. The glass wheel is 12",,,,,Thank you.

Wow a very nice Wimshurst electrostatic generator you got there. Be careful.

I remember this from school. Is there crank in place? I'll never touch it again ;)
    7. thefreno, 12 years ago
Yes, has wood handled crank on the rear side.

Well as you noticed one of the Leyden jar's is broken. You would need a replacement, not difficult to make. Love it!

There are still companies and individuals that make these. Also the insulators are missing that you would move the anode to control the discharge. You do not want to touch the metal. I would buy an instruction manual from one of the companies as they will still apply to yours. I would post some of the clubs that build these. Someone may know where this was made, which will make procuring parts easier for you.
