solid wood case all brass hinges clasp and screws all brass casing around clock ... clock face has "Radio Room" and the "White star line" ship logo on it small print on face says "AM Trademark,Case:India and Mvmt:Taiwan" inside the case under the clock was a 2 page pamphlet with Radio Clock "The RMS Titanic was,UNBELIEVABLY, GONE."

The maritime world asked why and vowed such a thing would never happen again. One of the solutions was the establishment of Radio Silence Zones - 3 minute periods immediately following each quarter hour reserved exclusively for transmitting distress calls. Replicated from traditional radio room clocks, this model is marked with bright red and green silence zones. then goes on to how to wall mount it

pamphlet is marked with the AM authentic models logo and is written in 4 languages

brass plate on face of box marked HANNOVER CASES

Clocks like this came in post 1912 but don't know the date of this particular model. The red 3 minute zones were set aside as Silence Periods on 500 khz, that is wireless telegraphy or morse code, thus giving any ship in distress the maximum chance of being heard sending a SOS call. The green zones are similarly set aside for 2182 khz, the radio telephony frequency. The Radio Officer on watch would have to enter in the logbook the fact that he had observed each Silence Period.

I was wondering if you had any more information about this clock? I have the exact same one, and have looked everywhere for information on it...it uses a battery so it can't be extremely old, but I was just wondering if you had gotten any more information on it---? Thanks ahead of time for any help! -Liz
