Not a very good day for any pottery or glass finds yesterday, but I did find this nice little piece. It's a red lacquer wooden bowl decorated with lotus pods on the lid. The finial on the top looks like a black olive...lol, but I think it's meant to be a bead with a hole thru it. The side has panels that are painted like shell or maybe jade. The interior is black. It has a lot of nicks and dings mostly to the bowl. There's scratches that someone tried to hide by using the wrong shade of red paint. It's had a rough life but still beautifully done. It measures 6 1/2" in dia. and is 3" tall. No marks or labels. There is an outline of a label that is missing. Anyone know anything about these pieces? -Mike-
