This was my parent's. They were married in 1940 and I'm guessing it is the last of a set that was probably a wedding present. However it is possible my father bought it in an antique store somewhere just because he liked it.
I have no information about the maker and there are no marks on the glass. I can find no images matching it anywhere. I would love it if someone here could tell me something about it.
I believe it is blown, and may have been done in two pieces, bowl and stem and then joined. There does appear to be a seam at the base of the bowl. There are two very tiny bubbles in the bowl and a mark on one side of part of the stem. The mark on the stem is not straight down the stem, and is slightly wavy, so I'm pretty sure it is not a mold seam. There are circles on the base that look like what you see in blown glass; but no mark from the blow tube, perhaps that was attached where the stem meets the glass?
The bowl of the glass is quite thin and is 3 inches across the top and approximately 2 inches tall. The base is approximately 1 1/4 inches tall, making the entire glass approximately 3 1/4 inches overall. The rooster is etched and is strutting very proudly. There are no additional etchings or decorations.
