I was given this cane . The owners father owned it before she did . It has been in her family for 100 years . She couldn't remember anything about it. Thinks she was told it was ivory . I am not so sure .! It has quite a bit of flex to it which makes me think it could be a rib bone or something a long those lines.. She did say that it used to be straight and over the years it has developed this curve. The tip of the cane "bottom" two inch does look like ivory and the handle looks like a wild boars tooth. Any help identifying this interesting beauty would be greatly appreciated ! Bryan

Def not ivory. Elephant tusks are huge and weigh hundreds of pounds
Do you know how to tell if its bone? Look for pores
    2. Stillwater Stillwater, 12 years ago
Almost looks like a bent narhwal tusk, but its not twisted like a candy cane. Is it? I can't tell
    3. Spinonegus, 12 years ago
No , there is not a twist. No I can't see any pores either. Do you think that it could have been carved or sawen from an elephant tusk, then straightened somehow ...steam possibly ? And the "memory" has returned it to its original curve?

I did a Google search on a hunch that I had, and I was right...
You're not going to believe this..........
The cane you have is made from the penis of a bull.

I wouldn't have guessed that! I do own another cane that is the skin of a bulls penis ,it has a tapered wooden dowel inside of the skin. It is also about 100 years old .the skin looks mummified .i will post a pic of it ,but have been unable to get a decent pic with my cell phone. Thanks for the info ! You have been a big help!
