Just visited my 94 year young Grandmother. She had this shipped home in the 60's. Says she remembers two little girls hand sanding the base, never saw the top being carved. Says it took 6 months to make.I can't believe the 3D carving, look at the tree branches and chains.Oiling became difficult for the Grandparents over the years as you can see the cracking. This is an accurate depiction of how they logged the forest. Have pics of my Grandfather riding an elephant while there.
    Hope you enjoy.

This table is Gorgeous! I was in Thailand for 14 months in the Army 69-70. This table is starving for Lemon Oil....IMO, I would spray it with Lemon Oil wipe it lightly with a cloth (ALL OVER IT)... Let the Oil soke in....This piece is made of Teak wood, they still use it on boats today. Teak wood is Rot resistant. I would repeat the Lemon Oil in one week. Good Luck!

Glad to hear you like it. Yes Teak is correct.I've been impressed by this since a little kid glad you enjoy. I haven't had the chance to see this much over the years. As we live in different states, It was recently passed to my parents, Couldn't help just checking it out and admiring it during my visit.
      Thanks for the advice.

As much as you admire this outstanding table, I hope it's passed down to you someday. I would let my parents know just how much you love this. What a great keepsake to treasure for years and years.
