This is a brief history of my father. Dad was by all accounts a self-made man. Everything he obtained he worked for, and worked hard. At 16 He started working as a car washer then a sander and masker in a local body shop eventually being promoted to shop manager by age 20. This is when he applied for and was hired by Travelers Insurance Company as a claims adjuster. He worked for the company for over 35 years, all the while receiving promotion after promotion. During these years he quietly built a respectable stock portfolio. Retiring from Travelers, he started his own successful consulting firm. Dad died January 19, 1997 after fighting bladder and lung cancer. He was a good man, not quick to use the word “love” but there was always a hot meal on the table, a roof over our heads and warm clothing on our backs. That was how he showed love. Love you dad
