Special thanks to TallCakes for a pointer in the right direction.
This compote has now been confirmed as French in origin, and two other examples have been found. Both attributed to Sabino, but neither signed as such. One signed "Made in France", the other signed, "Made exclusively for Paris Decorators".
Unless someone else can find an example specifically signed by a different company, I'll consider the mystery solved ... attributed to Sabino.
Sabino???

Thank you very much for the pointer, TallCakes. I often use LiveAuctioneers as a reference, but never found this reference as I kept searching words such as "horse", etc. ... never considered Sabino. This gives me a new angle to pursue. Thanks again!
Just wanted to say...now I want one of my own...GORGEOUS!!!
you're very welcome. I think used the search term 'stallions compote' for this one.
If ever you want to trade for this...let me know :)))))))
