Found this today as well. It definitely looks old, and there is plenty of things I can turn it into. I figure I would take the chance. Someone has to know what this is!!! I guess something functional, a tool to help someone make or manufacture something. Thanks!!!
I can always count on BHock to give me sleepless nites! Obviously the flipper things rotate to hold down the base of something thin that will not have a lot of pressure put on it. That's about as far as I can figure. Are those snaps on what appears to be a leather strap/boot? Really don't think this will be an easy one but maybe somebody knows.
hey blunder. actually, the flipper things do not move. I think they are strips of leather secured in place. Maybe they just dont move anymore.....not sure. Yes, the snaps are holding a small leather "boot" in place but it is only an inch or two in diameter. The whole thing is about 10 inches long. Not too big. Thanks blunder!!!
In photo 1 something round was placed on the left. There's it's shadow mark that remains as patination.
Can something be wedged under the boomerang shapes on the right?
I'm almost down to the catch-all. Left by aliens to confuse us.
Those are tacks in the horse shoe leather & something round, like a bottle obviously was set there, shown by the discolouration. The rest has me stumped.
A few clues....Nothing can be removed. They are not stamps, more like nails. The gold ones on the back of the leather piece look like replacements.
sorry, snaps not stamps.
I agree an ink well could have slipped into the "boot"
I don't see anything like that. Close only counts in horseshoes & hand grenades. I'll lube the gears a little later with a few Coronas & see what visions they conjure up.
Eureka! It's something BHock made up to drive us nuts, & succeeded in my case.
Now trying to reason it out. The socket with snaps is leather, which rules out something tall stuck in it, so it isn't a display stand for a hockey puck & hockey stick. That's as far as I have gotten. Maybe somebody on something stronger than Corona can help? Anybody have a friend who does mescaline?
Thanks E4B, we can call this solved now! I was really at a loss until you solved it. Now we know it is "fur-in".
lol blunderbuss you are hilarious!!! Been following all day thanks everyone for helping!!!!
mescaline....lol
Hey, BHock, this kept me awake last nite. Well, it might have been that slice of 2 wk old goat cheese I ate before bed. If I give it another 2 wks, maybe it will substitute for the mescal, & I will solve this & the troubles of the world in a vision? Almost had one last nite! Don't eat old goat cheese before bed.
It's for polishing shoes. You put the shoe on the base, scoot the heel against the bracket on the left, tuck your polish in that leather holder and polish your shoe.
It's missing a place for pens to be an inkwell, and the other pieces make no sense for that use.
Not knowing the size I was wondering if this could be a bottom stand for holding a piece (anvil type) to trim feet of coats, sheep etc. I think it's too small for a horse
In response to the last 2 comments: Too unmarked for either. No scratches or scuff marks. Hey, I'm beginning to remember English, or Alabamese!
a drink mixing station?
