This little vase packs a lot of detail into it's small 8" height. It is really eye catching. I found it pushed way in back on a shelf at the Cleveland Goodwill this morning, It's Chinese and marked "Made in China RY" on the bottom. The mark has a picture of the "Porcelain Tower of Nanjing" with clouds and mountains. I cannot find this mark anywhere. The "made in China" marks were used after 1919 for export so that gives me an approximate date. It looks like transfer ware that's hand painted because the floral and bird designs are identical on the side and front panels. There are raised "moriage" details in white enamel and gold. Two brilliant 24 kt gold handles top the vase. The interior is done in a pale green which doesn't show well in the picture. It's done in a "Satsuma" style which was a popular Japanese design that used people, animals and natural elements. No chips or damage just a bit of wear to the gilding on the top rim. -Mike-
