I was looking for something to put on my tv stand,so I went to a little antique store in Baytown,Tx,and I found this globe oil lamp(still got oil inside),and I liked it,and it fit perfectly in my tv stand.I like to know how old it is, or the approximate age.It does not have a brand name; in the bottom it has a little paper sticker'made in italy',I 'm not sure if the sticker is original, please help me to find some info about this item, thanks !
I have a lamp like the 1 you have with the small fitting for the chimney. Not the easiest to find. They come up straight about 2", then a ball shaped section which goes back to the same bottom dia. for the tallest part. They look sharp. A little hard to keep adjusted so it doesn't soot up though.
I got it as is,not knowing that a glass piece was missing,I'm a rookie in antique things,I might go back to the store and see if I can find the top (if the lamp really come with it).I like it like that 2(as is). Thank you blunderbuss2 for the update.
You would be wasting your time going back. Those very seldom survive. Those long thin chimneys look really great on your type lamp & I suggest you find one. It will double the beauty of the lamp & well worth finding. Not easy to find that style but they are available & not very expensive. The round (bulb) in the chimney is even with the wick & it glows there. Lightening my load, I just sent my lamp up with a friend to sell and can't remember if I sent the extra globe up with it. If I happen to find the extra globe if it's here, I will get in touch & send to you as I am going to come to the States in about a month.( First time in 5 yrs)
Ok I 'll probably go and buy something..and if you got the piece that I need we can negotiate. I appreciate it blunderbuss2,and you have a welcome back to the States, thanks.
Hi Mario,
You can find what you want for your lamp at http://www.antiquelampsupply.com They have a large supply of chimneys and also glass shades. I have no connection to them but have used them and have been very happy with what I got from them.
I want to thank you for your kind comment on my Nickel Rayo Lamp. I got the Pyrex chimney from Antique Lamp Supply.
Good luck and please post a picture of the lamp burning when you get it working!
