Here is a big Welz vase from about 1920 Czechoslovakia. You can see it has four layers of glass; while I consider Welz thinner glass this one is heavy and thicker than normal. The base is white with a cobalt "pleat pattern", ther is a different layer of citron confetti and finally a crystal base glass. The base pontil is ground like their smaller thorn-handle baskets. The third pic shows how massive the vase is against a 12" Tango Loetz basket. The Welz basket is "an unheard of" 16" tall.
Wow! Love it!!
Wow...that is awesome...you need to take a pic of the little guy holding it ....to see the enormousness of it... pulled the ruler out and wow...amazing! you think maybe it was a salesmens sample or a special made piece?
It looks like a window display or maybe was a set of three ( like nesting table ) if anyone was welz pieces 11"+ you know how rare they are, they made everything around 8 1/2" and the 11" pieces are all the same few shapes ( with three dimples). Poll: how many pieces do you have 11"+?
Good challenge...for me, I only have one WELZ piece 12 1/2 inches tall.
