I don't usually buy Milk Glass Oil Lamp bases but I thought that this one was so unique that it had to follow me home. The shape and the Ribboned Rosettes designs was what attracted me the most to it and the fact that I had never seen another one like it. I have been a member of the Historical Lighting Society of Canada since the early 1980's and I have seen thousands of lamps over the years.
I wonder if it had a matching shade or who could have made it. It came equipped with a pretty fancy, "Made in U.S.A., VICTOR" burner so that was another plus for me to dish out the $5.00 they wanted at the neighborhood garage sale. It measures 5" to the top of the collar and 7" across and probably dates late 1800's-early 1900's. If anyone recognizes the pattern or the maker, I would appreciate knowing more about it.
