Just when I thought today was a total bust, I ran out to the last Goodwill on my run today and found this. My first piece of Van Briggle !! A neat 8" triple bud vase in a rare jet black and pale blue sea foam drip glaze. Granted it's contemporary, late 60's, but it saved the day.I almost put it back too, but there was something familiar about the markings. The Van Briggle signature is hard to read. I thought it was and Italian name...lol. The arched window with the cross in it was what made me keep it. There is also two nicks and a scrape along the edge of one of the vases. They could be touched up easily, but I'll resist the temptation and leave it alone. You'd have to look closely to see all but one of them or run your finger along the top. Definitely a nice find ! -Mike-
WOW!!!!!
I know ! This is the same Goodwill where I found my "matte green" cremation urn ....LOL
For sure, prefer your blue lady ;-)
Thanks Kyra me too :)....As you can see I knew very little about Van Briggle other than the name at this point. I didn't even recognize the mark as being two "A"'s although it does look like a church window...lol .
