This wooden box has writings but I don't know what it reads, I don't even know what it was used for maybe for a snuff bottle or maybe for someone's ashes ? just speculating

Can't tell how big it is, but Japanese boxes like this often held some sort of item by a skilled craftsman. You see lots of cloisonne silver-wire stuff sold in boxes like this. Too bad you don't have what was inside.

Songwriter53, this is just a gift box (not for ashes! lol). The 2 large Chinese characters means 'respectfully presented to you' - pronounced 'Jun Chi'. The smaller list of writings on the left are names, presumably, the gift givers. Looking at the padding inside the box, it was for holding pottery/glass or some kind of breakable object. It was not a wedding or birthday gift because the linings is pink rather than red. Appears to be a 20th century piece. Hope my comments help. George
