This oil painting was made by my father Steven (marked SW) om 1979. It's my son at the age of 4 years. Painting was a big hobby of my deceased (1992) father and before that he certainly had talent. It's just a pity that he never wanted to take lessons because by then his paintings have become even nicer.
You understand that this is one of the paintings in my possession very dear to me. Partly because it was created by my father, but also because it's our son.

Thank you very much, Agram, for sharing this treasure with us! Ah, your father has captured a beautiful face with an earnest, engaging, gentle, and vulnerable expression. I must remark the technique/s used to render the coiffure!!! I haven't seen such dramatic 'textured' hair before. When I first looked at the horse picture, I felt the flavor of Van Gogh - in the treatment of the hay and sky most notably. Now, I don't find the horse painting 'derivative' - no, your father had his own powerful style, but there are notes that point to a Van Gogh influence. I shall have to examine some images of Van Gogh portraits to see if I can find a similar treatment of hair. : ) Thank you, Agram!
