I LOVE estate sales!!!
Found this beautiful antique billy club at a local estate.
Guessing it's English, since a lot of other antiques in the house are and the night stick is unmarked.
Is there any way to tell the age/area where it was made?
Thanks,
Nessa
Actually, I would think it more likely to be marked if English.
Markings might have been rubbed off......it's definitely seen some action!!
I thought it might be English, since a lot of other antiques from the same estate were English.

DrNessa: It is a very nice old Club it could be English but the clubs the Bobby carry are not very long and are very thick like 2 inch thick. They could be carrying are newer style now but your club is a style carry in the 20's and up into the 40's in the U.S.. I have one from the 20's that was replaced in the early 50's by the San Bernardino, California, police department and it looks very much like yours except it is in a light colored wood (Ash, Oak or Hickory) and it's 24 inches long. I will post a picture of mine so you can compare photo's but I would bet money your is American made. Billy clubs have a tapper when the shaft meet the handle which your I would say does not. One other thing it's a nice piece and has a history I wish it could tell, thanks for posting Hardbrake
Thanks for your comments, even if it's an American piece.....I love it!
