This is another mystery pottery piece found at a thrift store, but is clearly marked/etched with an eagle, an "87" to the right of the eagle and "Eagle Pottery" under the eagle. Even with that I cannot find a lot about it.
JayHow, I had considered that myself hoping that would lead to something, but my research thus far hasn't found a right path to follow!?! So, the search continues. I appreciate everyone's interest, and continued support in solving this mystery ;o)

Never did find out anything about this piece, and I actually think I found another piece with similar mark after posting this 4 years ago. Maybe it's time to dig up the pieces, and try anew...
Just did a quick search on "pottery marked eagle pottery", and came across an interesting history on Arkansas pottery that mentions "Eagle Pottery"? No mention of marks, but an intriguing lead? http://www.antiquetrader.com/features/century_of_niloak_pottery/
oh very interesting ...this piece has been sitting in my moms window sill for as long as i can remember. She probably picked it up at a yard sale also. The mark on the back is not as sharp but is exactly the same. Will keep looking and post if anything comes up...thank you !!!

I just bought a mint green planter at a garage sale in Tallahassee, FL with this mark. It doesn't say "Eagle Pottery" or have a date, though, just the mark.
Hi, I found a pink planter at a secondhand store in Largo, FL (Pinellas County) this year with the same eagle logo, but without the words "Eagle Pottery" shown on the original post. Mine doesn't have a date either. It's funny there have now been three found in FL. Makes me wonder if it was a Southern pottery operation or if people just migrated down here with their pottery in tow. Still a mystery, I guess.
I will solve your mystery on the pottery with flying eagle at bottom. Eagle Pottery Ltd. was located in Tampa Florida, in a warehouse building near Orient Road and close to the Orient Jail. It was still in operation during the 1990s. It produced a substantial amount of pottery and I can confirm the item in your photo was from this Company as I was a previous co-owner for a very brief period. These were known as garden dishes and didn't have a drainage hole in the bottom. They were primarily sold to customers in Central Florida (Apopka, Lakeland area) as well as other locations. The garden dishes were produced in a variety of sizes from small to very large. Some rounds, some ovals with scalloped edges. Many were stripped, others were solid colors mainly pastels. All pots were prepared in molds, kiln, hand sanded. Each piece was hand sprayed and painted. Eagle Pottery Ltd. Employed approximately 10 people. It doesn't surprise me that so many pieces have survived since it was a high production enterprise. As stated previously, my very brief involvement with this Company gives me confidence in identifying your mystery pottery.
The Company was started by a couple who lived in Riverside or Riverview near Tampa. I've forgotten their names but I believe the man's first name was Ned. He created the moulds and carved Eagle Logo while his wife was responsible for the daily operation. Ned developed a customer base and delivered quantities of pottery across Florida. Pots were ideal for garden industry....they would not leak on table tops making them desirable for floral designing as well. Now that's about as much as I can tell you about this Company. I have no idea when it began and when it ceased but it was active in the early 1990s
